More specifically, the hip, slick, outside-world influenced wave of fast food places sweeping in to Czech Republic, namely:

The quality of the foodstuffs on offer may well be questionable – this subject is for another forum – but the standard of customer services and service attitudes should have a profound affect on the wider society, certainly in the long term. The service model may well be formulaic and somewhat scripted but it is a pleasant, happy, smiley face attitude and the experience welcome.  A lot of other food services could learn a lot from these imports. Fabulous.

McDonalds in Pruhonice doesn’t seem to follow the script.
The American tourist in front of me asked for a fresh coffee as the one she had been given was not hot. Was a pleasant, happy, smiley face given. Nope. A face like thunder, a shrug of the shoulders and some muttered comments. Eventually a fresh coffee (and more muttered comments). And all this from a manager at McDonalds. The customer may have been American but even they deserve better treatment than that :o )

And more are rapidly following suit, it seems:

Personally, I was very happy to learn that the “outside world” influence of Coffee Heaven is none other than Polish. Obviously it is possible for almost-home-grown companies to exhibit this good style of customer service all on their own.

Just hope that Starbucks et al don’t kill them off…

Not sure about this being a “Polish” company as such. Coffee Heaven is based (HQ) out of London, listed on the FTSE, created by a guy named Richard Worthington (a Brit), and they only list their primary markets as Central Europe. Sounds more like a market opportunity to me that being something created within that market. (The website is also hosted in UK). See also http://news.independent.co.uk/business/sme/article27928.ece

I stand corrected :-)
